SECTION IV
BATTERY CHARGER

4-1 GENERAL.
This section contains information and procedure for the remote battery charger. Included are operating instructions and a part list and illustration identifying maintenance parts.
4-2. PRECAUTIONS.
CAUTION: Do not charge batteries in a hazardous area. The battery charger does not have an EE rating.
To reduce the risk of fire, use only on circuits provided with 20 amperes branch circuit protection in accordance with the national electrical code ANSI/NFPA 70.
To prevent arcing and damage to the equipment, turn timer to "OFF' position before connecting or disconnecting the charger plug.
to prevent electrical shock, do not touch uninsulated portion of output connector or battery terminal.
Do not expose charger to rain. Store indoors. Replace damaged or defective power cord.
4-3. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS.
1. Turn timer knob to ‘OFF’.
2. Disconnect the lift truck battery connector located on control console.
3. Connect the charger DC connector to lift truck.
4 Plug the charger AC cord into grounded outlet.
5. Set the timer according to Table 3-2.
NOTE: the timer knob will return to “OFF” after the set time.
6. At the end of charge cycle, disconnect the AC cord, then disconnect the DC connector.
NOTE: if it is desired to disconnect the charger before the end of the set time, manually turn the timer to the ‘OFF’ position.
3-4. REPAIR.
Refer to figure4-1 as an aid to troubleshooting the battery charger.
No special procedure are required to replace parts of the charger.
